| Since 2010, PHC Kapran awaits inauguration | | Functions in rented building | | Saahil Suhail ANANTNAG, Sept 28: In South Kashmir's remote area of Kapran Dooru, poor patients continue to suffer as after the passage of over three years, Primary Health Center in the village awaits inauguration and continues to function in a duplicated rented building. Locals said that although the building for the Primary Health Centre (PHC) has already come up in this remote village but it is still awaiting inauguration due to which patients continue to suffer. "It has been more than three years now that the building for the upcoming PHC got completed but due to no one inaugurating it the area remains devoid of any health care facility," locals said, adding most of the ailing patients die on way to Community Health Centre (CHC) Verinag, Sub- district hospital Dooru or District Hospital, Anantnag as they don't get first aid treatment for lack of any health facility. They said that though they have a sub center functioning in a rented building but sans basic health care facilitates and facility. According to locals, PHC foundation stone was laid by Gulam Ahmad Mir, who is currently State Tourism Minister and represents the Dooru constituency, in year 2010 and the construction of the hospital building completed in year 2012 but since is locked and awaits inauguration. "It is an irony, Government pays rent to duplicated building for functioning hospital when have well equipped building available," Aijaz Ahmad, a student told Early Times. |
