Congress forgets Kamaal for time being
9/28/2013 11:29:01 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 28: The Congress Ministers seem to have brushed aside the controversy triggered by National Conference Additional General Secretary Dr Mustafa Kamaal's frequent and reckless statements. The Kamaal tirade forced the Congress Ministers to take a stand. The reaction came in Ramadhan when Chief Minister cancelled the Cabinet meeting fearing boycott by the Congress Minister.
However, the Ministers attended a meet following Kishtwar clashes. The Ministers justified their participation by stating that the situation was explosive.
Meanwhile, the Congress leaders decided to make up the matter with the party high command. However, nothing tangible came out and Kamaal continued to issue statements and Congress Ministers continued to attend the Cabinet meetings.
Pertinent to mention here at least two Cabinet meetings have been held recently and Congress Ministers have participated. The Congress had sought an unconditional apology from the Kamaal. However, the apology has not come till date.
Kamaal cast aspersions on Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi besides criticizing the local leadership including Saif-ud-Din Soz and Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Sources close to Congress say that the party does not want to annoy the National Conference at this point of time. "The Parliamentary elections are round the corner and even a single seat is going to make a big difference. Jammu Kashmir has six Parliamentary seats and if NC bags three or four, it will be a great help to the Government formation by the UPA.
