| Formalities delay compensation to Kishtwar victims | | | Asif Iqbal Naik KISHTWAR, Sept 28: Traders of District Kishtwar who had suffered losses in August 9 and 10 violence at Kishtwar and Padder has expressed grave resentment over the decision of District administration in which the concerned Deputy Commissioner has sought some formalities needed to be fulfilled by the traders before the administration release the compensation in favour of the riots' victims. The traders said that many formalities seek by the administration are time consuming and added that several victims were not aware about those things. They said that only few shopkeepers in Kishtwar District are falling under such ambit and can fulfill the formalities demanded by the administration. The traders demanded immediate withdrawal of such formalities and felicitate the release of compensation in favour of the riots victims. They alleged that the government action is harassing the victims who want to start their business a fresh after suffering heavily in riots. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Baseer Ahmed Khan during his meeting with riots effected victims of Kishtwar District including with the traders community yesterday, appraised them about the formalities need to be submitted by the victims to avail the compensation announced by the government as per the order recently passed by the Jammu and Kashmir cabinet. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar informed the victims that government has accorded final sanction to the compensation for August 9 and 10 communal riots victim of Kishtwar and Padder in record time. Khan asked the traders to provide relevant documents including sale tax details of three quarters, audit report 2012-13, TIN Number and Registration of the business establishment along with affidavit from a competent court or notary. He further informed the meeting that the government has also accorded sanction to compensation in favour those who had lost their property including building structures, hotels and shops besides in favour of the traders. He said that once the traders will fulfill the requisite details, the compensation will be paid to them after completion of all legal formalities. SP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal was also present in the meeting. When contacted President Traders Association Kishtwar, Rakesh Gupta did not comment on the formalities demanded by the administration before releasing of compensation in favour of the traders' community. |
