Jammu, Sept 28: Describing the twin terror attacks in samba as shocking and also an intriguing one, former union minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta Saturday stressed for a deep probing and pin pointing the lapses in the security arrangements. In a statement he emphasized for total review of the policies towards Pakistan, "which of late has been behaving like a rogue country but the New Delhi's lukewarm response is jeopardizing the dignity of the great Indian Nation."
Commenting upon the reports about the infiltration of heavily armed terrorists to this side from Pakistan and then three of them forcing an auto driver to Hiranagar, miles away from the place of infiltration without being checked enroute by any of the security agencies to attack the police station and killing half a dozen persons and injuring some others there. "And more so, is intriguing the stationing of truck there in which they travelled all the way to Samba without being checked enroute although the firing at Hiranagar had taken place about half an hour earlier," Prof. Gupta said and raised some other such like questions.
He recalled that on several important occasions earlier also this border belt had been the target of cross border terror. "The incidents of 2002 and then 2008 were most notable. Now when the Prime Minister was on a visit to USA and also was scheduled to meet the Pak Prime Minister, such terrorist attacks should have been visualized as in the past too several such like incidents including massacres had taken place. The question is that why extra-precautions were not taken. In this case, not to say of taking any special measures but the routine drawbacks have surfaced in a gross manner. A serious note must be taken of all the lapses," he added.
Prof Gupta strongly indicted the men in authority at the centre and observed that Pakistan is opting for all the aggressive postures including pushing highly trained and heavily armed terrorists to this side, violating ceasefire with impunity, resorting to chopping of heads and other inhuman acts. "But from all angles the response from New Delhi is quite ridiculous which is making the Great Indian Nation just a cause of mockery. This approach is encouraging not only the cross border terror but also emboldening the elements of secessionism and other dubious characters," he claimed.
"The happening at the borders and the goings on in the interior especially in the troubled valley of Kashmir is not sufficient which is required to keep up the morale of the forces as also the nationalist people. Thus, there is the dire need to review the whole Kashmir Policy and strong response to the elements of hostility," the former union minister added.
