| Vocational training centre inaugurated | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Sept 28: Army's Rashtriya Rifles (RR) battalion based at Nachlana under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) established a vocational training centre for conducting tailoring courses for the women of villages of Khari bowl of Banihal, Ramban under 'Operation Sadhbavana.' The Centre was inaugurated by the Sarpanch of Khari and the function was attended by a large number of civil dignitaries from the area. According to a defence communiqué the Centre is equipped with 10 sewing machines and all other necessary items for imparting training on stitching. A total of 35 ladies form village of Khari bowl will be trained under the guidance of two trained local teacher for a duration of one month. "The aim of the Centre is to extend opportunity to these women to earn their livelihood through tailoring. The training will not only help these ladies to earn their livelihood but also will assist in fermenting the belief of people friendly Army. During the training, ladies will be imparted training on theoretical and practical aspects of tailoring skills. Guidance will also be provided for financial assistance required by them from various banks and agencies to establish their own venture," the statement said. Zahina Bano and Khalida Akhtar of Khari were overwhelmed and excited after attending the opening ceremony. They conveyed their gratitude to the Army for giving an opportunity to attend the tailoring training and said that now they will be able to work independently after having obtained the requisite skills from the Centre. |
