JAMMU, Dec 1: Winning their third match in a row, University of Jammu (JU) today qualified for the knockout stages of quarterfinals in the ongoing Vice Chancellor's Cup Twenty20 Tournament hosted by Mumbai University. As per the reports reaching here today, JU defeated Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Kashmir by a margin of 35 runs. Earlier, batting first, JU set a target of 157 runs losing eight wickets, which, in reply, SKUAST could not chase and exhausted their quota of 121 runs for nine wickets. Niranjan and Abhinav remained top scorers with 32 and 28 runs respectively while Raj Kumar added 22 runs. Vishal (20) and Daud Iqbal (16) were other contributors to the team's total. From JU, Sajjad, Ishtiaq and Ameen shared two wickets each while Majeed bagged one. Later, SKUAST Kashmir could not maintain the required run rate and completed their quota of 20 overs for nine wickets. Tariq made highest 35 runs, followed by Rafat and Imtiaz with 21 and 17 runs respectively. From JU, Pawan bowled brilliant spell taking away three wickets for just seven runs while Raj Kumar bagged three for 26. Daud and Sandeep shared one wicket each. Considering his all round performance, Raj Kumar named man of the match. Today's was Raj Kumar's third man of the match title in a row. |
