Congress candidates not ready to organize rallies for central leaders in their constituencies | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 1: Although Congress leadership has sent a list of nearly 40 star campaigners for the on-going assembly elections yet party high command has not deputed any of them to support party candidates. Except Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni and Raj Babbar not even a single national leader has far campaigned for the party despite the fact that some party leaders are popular in different pockets of Jammu and Kashmir regions. Credible sources in the Congress said that high command had asked state unit to send request for leaders who are required to campaign for the party. Following directions of the high command, the State unit had sent a list of 40 leaders including Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi. The state unit has asked party candidates to send names of those leaders who are required to campaign for the party in their respective areas. Most of the candidates have shown cold shoulder response to the request of the state unit. Most of the leaders have shown interests in campaigning by themselves rather than depending on central leaders. Except Ghulam Nabi Azad, no Congress leader is in demand for elections these days. Rallies of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi would be organised by party leadership on its own in different areas but candidates are not ready to arrange rallies of other central leadership. Congress candidates, sources said, have told the leadership that instead of wasting energy of central leaders it is better to utilize their own energy on door to door campaign to garner support for the common masses. Interestingly BJP has deputed all its leaders to campaign for the party candidates in the State but Congress has failed to convince its candidates to call central leaders for campaign. |
