Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 1: Prime Minister Narinder Modi and UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi were on the same page during their visit to state, as both leaders forgot to utter a single word about village Saddal of Udhampur, which was completely devastated in floods and nearly 50 people perished along with their houses. The village Saddal, struck by natural calamity in September, remained missing in the speeches of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi during their rallies in Jammu, to garner support for their party candidates in Udhampur, where elections are scheduled to held on today. Moreover, amid PM's and Chief Minister's claims to reach the flood affected victims have so far proved mere slogans and hoax for Saddal villagers and other areas, waiting relief even after three months of natural catastrophe. Surprisingly, on one hand PM Narinder Modi led BJP, has been patting its back for starting Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna, but instead of adopting the village by Prime Minister Office headed by Dr. Jatinder Singh, but no relief has been given to the victims so far. Pertinently, on September 7, 2014, at least 40 people had feared dead after a landslide, triggered by heavy rains, submerged entire Saddal village in Udhampur district. Nearly 22-23 houses were buried under the landslide. Over 100 more families, who were rescued from the area, have been given refugee in hospitals and shops, sources said and criticized, Prime Minister Narender Modi and AICC President Sonia Gandhi for not uttering a single word about their village and relief. Sources further said that victims of natural disaster had pinned high hopes on Prime Ministera and Sonia Gandhi to announce some compensation for them but both had forgotten the Saddal tragedy. Sarpanch of Punjar- Saddal, Ramesh Singh said no politician of any party visited us for ascertaining our plight after tragedy. "Few days back, PM Narender Singh, AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Dr Jitinder Singh had visited various areas of Udhampur constituency but they didn't spare time for our village and even didn't bother to say anything for our village, which is very depressing", he said. |
