Security apparatus put in place for free polls
31 in fray for 3 Poonch seats

Rajouri, Dec 1: Polling for three constituencies of Poonch district will take place on December 2 and according to district election authorities' and senior police officers all the necessary security as well other arrangements are in force for the conduct of free, fair and peaceful polling.
31 candidates are in fray from Poonch Haveli, Surankot and Mendhar Assembly constituencies out of which 9 are Independent candidates.As per information provided by the candidates three are facing criminal cases including two from Mendhar constituency and one from Poonch Assembly seat. Javed Iqbal independent candidate contesting from Poonch Haveli have 2 criminal cases against him. As per information provided by him he has no assets as well as liabilities. BJP candidate Zulfikar Hussain Khan from Mendhar Assembly constituency is also having two criminal cases registered against him ad as per his affidavit he owe assets worth Rs 98.5 lacs.
Another independent candidate contesting from Mendhar constituency identified as Nissar Hussai Shah is having one criminal against registered against him.
He has declared Rs53 lacs as his total assets. Mohd Kabir an independent candidate contesting from Poonch Haveli, Ashfaq Rana National Panther Party (NPP) and Mohd Shah independent candidate (both contesting for Mendhar constituency ) have disclosed that they have no assets.As for as crorpatis are concerned 10 candidates, 4 each from Mendhar and Surankot and 2 from Poonch Haveli , have assets worth in crores.Mohd Sharief Khan, an independent candidate contesting for from Mendhar constituency leads the tally with assets worth Rs 8.2 crores while Murtaza Ahmed Khan, National Conference candidate from Mendhar is having assets worth Rs 7.36 crores followed by Ch Abdul Ghani (independent from Poonch) with Rs7.2 crores and Iqbal Hussain Shah, PDP candidate from Surankot constituency having assets worth Rs 3,75 crores.
