MENDHAR, Dec 1 : A junior commissioned officer (JCO of army was today wounded in an IED blast near a forward post on the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sub-sector of Mendhar here.
The incident occurred at about 10.40 am when JCO Rajinder Singh and seven to eight other army personnel were on routine patrolling on the LoC. Official sources said when the jawans were nearing Cheel Post in Trikundi Forwad area, the IED exploded, injuring the JCO who was later airlifted to command hospital, Udhampur, where his condition was stated to be critical. All other jawans, who were accompanying him, survived unhurt, the sources added.
The IED was said to have been exploded by militants with the help of a remote control device from across the LoC. Two days back, an army vehicle was damaged badly in an IED blast near the LoC in Krishna Ghati area of Mendhar, Poonch. |
