Sikhs demand package for refugees of 1947 | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 26: Various Sikh organizations have appealed state coalition government to announce package for the rehabilitation of refugees of 1947. According to press release, a meeting of various Sikh organisations of J&K was held under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh Chief Organizer Bhai Kanahiya Jee Nishkam Seva Society J&K. Other who participated J&K Sikh United Front, AISSF J&K, Sikh Naujawan Sabha, Sikh Welfare Society, Gurmat Vichar Manch. The participants in the meeting stressed upon the state government to pass the refugee package in favour of 1947 Pok rehabilitate package in the cabinet meeting for Rs. 25 Lakhs per family, which was lying pending from last 67 years and was ready in the office of Chief Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Government. The Sikh leaders demanded 4% in place of 2% reservation. The Sikh leaders also demanded minority status for Sikhs in J&K on pattern of Paharies and OBC in employment and technical institutions.
