Omar's promise a hoax | 2 yrs on Sidhra Golf course incomplete | | Jammu, Aug 26: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has failed to keep up his commitment of converting 9-hole golf course at Sidhra here into a full-fledged golf course having 18 holes. Pertinently, Omar had inaugurated the first 9-hole area of Sidhra golf course in April 2011 and during his speech he had promised that remaining work of the golf course would be completed by March 2012. Till date Chief Minister's promise has remained confined to papers only. While replying to a question raised by NC MLC, Ajatshatru Singh, in the Legislative Council in Srinagar today, Minister for urban local bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora, said: "The work is still in progress. The tourism department has conducted the survey of one hundred and twenty three kanal of land near Sidhra golf course. Land has not been handed over to the Tourism department, however, the Deputy Commissioner Jammu has been asked to complete the formalities to transfer the land to the Tourism department." Government sleeping over the issue has proved its discriminatory approach towards the Jammu region. Irony is that land till date has not even been transferred to the Tourism department. The Omar Abdullah led regime during its five and a half years has been hell bent upon discriminating with Jammu region and Sidhra Golf course remaining incomplete is a glaring example of it. |
