Sapolia at Kathua function raises eye-brows BJP unlikely to accept Lal Singh's demands 8/27/2014 12:31:17 AM Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 26: Presence of Basohli, MLA Jagdish Sapolia at Kathua function in which Congress stalwart Choudhary Lal Singh joined BJP has raised many eye-brows. Jagdish Sapolia is arch rival of Lal Singh who joined BJP in the presence of national president of BJP Amit Shah Choudhary Lal Singh, as per credible sources, had put pre-conditions for joining BJP. Singh had reportedly demanded Basohli, Bani and Kathua seats for his family members. Credible sources said that Lal Singh has told his supporters that BJP has accepted his conditions. But presence of Jagdish Sapolia in joining function of Lal Singh has given another message. BJP at this juncture not want to annoy Jagdish Sapolia, who has strong following in Basohli segments. Credible sources in the BJP said that party leadership was not ready to accept demands of Choudhary Lal Singh. Instead of giving Lal Singh mandate from Basohli segment, party leadership is seriously thinking to field him somewhere else. Party, sources said, has assured Sapolia that he would be repeated and Choudhary Lal Singh would be given mandate to fight against a big leader of Congress. Choudhary Lal Singh is demanding Basohli seat for himself, Kathua seat for his brother Rajinder Singh Babbi, Bani seat for his wife Kanta Andotra and Reasi seat for his staunch supporter Bhupinder Singh. Credible sources in the BJP said that first target of the party was to induct Lal Singh into the party and decision of giving him mandate would be decided by the core committee and election committee of the party. Party leadership has realised that Jagdish Sapolia had played a very important role during Parliament elections so denying him mandate without any reason would give a wrong message. Furthermore, giving three out of total six Assembly seats to the family members of Choudhary Lal Singh would demoralise party workers also.
