Kalaroos encounter: Another ultra neutralized, search cum combing operation on

Kupwara, Aug 26: in a daylong gun battle, one more militant was killed on Tuesday in the Kalaroos encounter taking the overall death toll to eight, including five militants and three Army soldiers in Kupwara district of North Kashmir while a combing operation to track down militants who reportedly had managed to escape from encounter is on.
According to official sources that a gun battle erupted in forest area of Lolab, Gurdaji near Kalaroos area of Kupwara, district after army launched an operation to track down a group of militants who had managed to escape during the encounter.
"On a specific intelligence security forces cordoned off the whole forest at around 8:00 am and a contact was made with militants hiding in the forest area further triggering a fierce encounter between militants and security forces comprising troops from 41, 28, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) Kupwara," official sources said,
They said the militants were engaged by security forces leading to a fierce gun battle that was going on till late evening of Tuesday. "During the exchange of fire the security forces eliminated one ultra whose body was found from the encounter site, sources added. They said, "The body of militant along with AK 47 rifle and other warlike store has been recovered from the spot the identity of the militant is yet to be ascertained."
"The operation that was continuing for past six days led to the encounter on the Tuesday morning, sources said adding, " that army has also suffered a causality and this is the third fatality suffered by Army in Kupwara district in the past three days." A top official on anonymity said that in a fortnight 7-8 militants were gunned down who infiltrated to this side of the Line of Control (LoC).
It is important to mention here that last Sunday four militants and two troopers were killed in an encounter at Kalaroos area of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.
According to official sources that a group of 7-8 militants who had sneaked into this side of Line of Control (LoC) near Z-Gali in Machil sector on the intervening night of August 21/22, the group after reaching Dhok Behak area of Nunwani in Kalarosa was intercepted by the alert troops of 41 and 45 Rashtriya Rifles (RR).
"The militants were challenged and they opened heavy fire upon the forces the fire which was effectively retaliated ensuing a fierce gun-battle, during the gunfight four ultras had been gunned down and two troopers of 45 RR got injured initially," official said.
"However a massive search operation is still going on in and around the forest of Kalaroos and Lolab area, it is believed that militant group have infiltrated to this side of Line of Control (LOC) in Kupwara district of North Kashmir, official maintained.
