HC notice to state, BCCI in JKCA scam | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 26: A Division Bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court today issued notice to state government through Chief Secretary and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on a Public Interest Litigation, seeking high-level probe into alleged multi-crore scam in J&K Cricket Association. The division bench comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice M H Attar also issued notice, seeking reply to the PIL within four weeks, to J&K's Director General of Police, Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar and Station House Officer Ram Munshi Bagh here. Besides, the Division Bench also directed SSP Srinagar and SHO Ram Munishibagh to file status of an FIR (12/2012) registered in connection with the scam. The bench was hearing a Public Interest Litigation filed by two valley-based cricketers, Majid Yaqoob Dar, a former Ranji Trophy cricketer and Nissar Ahmad Khan, a club level player. They seek investigation by a high level team of reputed police officers into the alleged misappropriation of large scale funds in the JKCA. "The matter should be investigated by a high level team of reputed officers of the police or any other authorized department" the petitioners have prayed. They also seek investigation in an FIR (No. 27/2012) registered with Police Station Ram Munshibagh, Srinagar and bringing the guilty to book. Apart from this, they seek seeks direction from the court for taking effective steps for the recovery of more than Rs 40 crore which according to them have been embezzled by former secretary of JKCA Ahsan Mirza, Saleem Khan, administrative officer and others. |
