Infighting, indecisiveness likely to cost Cong | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 26: The infighting and indecisiveness of the Congress high command is likely to cost the party in the coming Assembly elections. The senior leadership of the party has communicated to party high command that it should shed away its past practice of last minute announcement of the candidates as party is already in deep trouble in the state. "The party high command must learn lessons for its debacle in the Parliamentary elections. It should not continue with the last minute gaming and change of the candidates list. It should finalise it as soon as possible so that candidates can know about their constituency and thus give time to it so that people also know about them," said a senior Congress leader. The party has given indication of repeating its sitting MLAs but even then there has not been any clear announcement in this regard. People’s Democratic Party, which has won all three Lok Sabha seats in the Valley and National Conference, which was the largest party in the last elections, has already almost announced their candidates. These two parties have major say in the Kashmir region which incidentally has the largest seats. "The Congress is thinking on the lines of the BJP but not realizing that it is in the ascendancy. BJP is running the Central Government and many people are eager to join it. And more importantly party wants to improve its tally so it is taking time to select candidates. And it can afford to but the same can't be said about the Congress, which has received the most serious set back in its political history," said another Congress leader, wishing not to be name. |
