Amit Shah's tour useless for us: Border migrants | He talked politics only, did not show serious concern for our problems | | Bharat Bhushan JAMMU, Aug 26: BJP president Amit Shah's tour was virtually redundant for us; he talked politics only with an eye on the forthcoming assembly polls in the state but did not exactly show any concern for our problems even when we are the real sufferers of the unprovoked Pak shelling and firing, say the border migrants who are living in temporary accommodations in R S Pura. Jagdish Choudhary's house in village Gharani, R S Pura, is at a stone's throw from the International Border (IB). A Pak shell landed and exploded in his house a few days back, damaging the roof of a room and causing cracks to the walls of other rooms. Three more deafening sounds rocked the village that day one after the other. While two shells exploded in noman's land without causing any harm to life and property of the people, one had created a big crater in the verandah of the house of Jagdish's neighbour Gurdeep. The family had a miraculous escape but the glass panes of the house were broken and walls developed cracks all over. Jagdish said all those who had left homes after the heavy Pak shelling and firing had attached great hopes with the Amit Shah's high-profile visit but their wait for him proved to be futile when he did not speak to them personally. "The BJP president assailed the local political parties for different reasons but did not hear us personally. We wanted to speak to him and tell him how much we have suffered due to the Pak shelling but he had no time for us. His tour was totally political with an eye on the upcoming assembly elections in the state. He did not show any sympathy for us. He ignored us but let the elections come, we will show him how important a common man and his issues are in a democratic set up. We are feeling insulted by his this behaviour. He did not utter a single word for our settlement or relief to us," Jagdish complained. Mohan Choudhary of Sai was too critical of the BJP national president. "This was not right on his part to discuss politics and political parties but this was the time to heal our wounds and tell us that we and our issues are of a great concern for him and his party," he said. His only agenda was to woo the voters and not to know about the pain and agony in which we have been since the time of fleeing our homes due to the Pak shelling and firing," said Surjeet Singh of Suchetgarh. "We expected a lot from him but he returned to New Delhi without making any commitment with us," said Sudhakar Mahajan of Arnia. All of them now hope that the Centre would take up the matter of border firing with Pakistan and make efforts for a ceasefire so that they return homes and live without any fear of the enemy shelling and firing. |
