POONCH, Aug 26 : A cab driver has allegedly been beaten up by the PSOs of Javed Rana, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council, in Gursai area of Mendhar. After police delayed registration of FIR, victim's mother moved court which directed them to probe into the matter and file compliance report. Rana was Sunday last on his way to Jedan Wali Gali, Gursai, to address an election rally when he got stuck in a traffic jam at Gursai nullah. While Nazarat Hussain, who was driving Tata Sumo (JK12/4001), tried to make way, his cab touched an escort vehicle. This infuriated Rana's PSOs, who then allegedly kicked and beat up Nazarat with rifle butts. Nazarat was later admitted to sub-district hospital, Mendhar, while his cab was seized by Gursai police, according to police sources. When his mother Sariya Begum went to Gursai police station with a complaint against Rana and his PSOs, SHO refused to listen to her. She then moved the court of munsiff judge, Mendhar, with a complaint against Rana's PSOs - Mohammad Mushtaq and Shabir Hussain. The court directed police to probe into the matter and file the compliance report. Nazarat alleged that during his search, police had taken his licence and money. His mother has appealed to SSP, Poonch, and DGP to intervene and help her son get justice. Nazarat's brother, who was a SPO, was killed a few years back in an encounter with militants at Gursai. |
