JAMMU, Nov 2: A quiet debate is though on within the rank and file of leadership issue –between Abdullah senior and junior – but one thing is clear that Omar Abdullah will take a second chance at family’s pocket-borough of Ganderbal where he faced the shock of life in 2002 assembly elections.
National Conference President Omar Abdullah will tomorrow file his nomination papers from the prestigious Ganderbal assembly constituency in the valley going to polls on November 23 in the second of the seven phased elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
The name of 38-year-old Omar was cleared by the party's election monitoring committee, putting an end to an intense speculation over whether or not he would contest from this assembly seat.
Omar had suffered a setback in the Ganderbal constituency in the valley, considered a National Conference bastion, when he lost to PDP candidate Qazi Afzal in 2002 assembly polls.

JAMMU, Nov 2: The total electorate eligible to vote in the upcoming seven-phased elections in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday crossed 65 lakh with the addition of 40,228 service electors.
There are 40,228 service electors including 6,995 women in the state eligible to vote in the elections in the state. With this, the total electorate has gone up to 65,37,821, an official spokesman said on Sunday. Earlier, officials had put the figure of total electorate in the State to 64,97,593 spread over 87 constituencies. JAMMU, Nov 2: A total of 40,228 service electors will be exercising their right to vote in the coming J&K Assembly elections 2008 beginning November 17.
Jammu district with 14,101 service electors leads the pack followed by Leh with 5,690 service voters. Srinagar district, in Kashmir division, has the lowest 14 service electors registered. Out of the overall service electorate of 40,228, 33,233 are male and only 6,995 are female voters. With this, the total electorate registered in J&K for the coming Assembly elections is 65,37,821 which includes 33,85,380 male and 31,52,441 female voters.
