| Creation of 659 new administrative units | | J&K Govt's administrative aptitude comes under question, state on brink of financial crisis | | | Syed Junaid Hashmi
JAMMU, Feb 2: Seeking to undo anti-incumbency across the state especially in Kashmir valley before the upcoming elections, the much hyped creation of 659 new administrative units by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has raised questions over the administrative aptitude of the ruling class in Jammu and Kashmir.
None knows better about the financial health of state than the man occupying highest seat of power yet a decision was taken to create administrative units and that too beyond the recommendations of a committee which had already submitted its report to the state government. The voluminous report of Mushtaq Ganai committee, a man whom Congress accuse of being close to National Conference (NC), was thrown to the dustbin and another report based on the assumptions and presumptions of the Congress and NC legislators was prepared overnight and accepted.
Such was the urgency that Omar Abdullah issued a veiled threat via PTI, NDTV and CNNIBN to resign (though for the third times) if the high command of Congress did not intervene. They heard him loud and clear through ...

| NC has nothing to celebrate; CSC report is result of hard work of Cong Ministers | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and his party National Conference (NC) has nothing done extra ordinary, which they
could cherish after approving creation of new administrative units.
The National Conference (NC) on its own has done no good while being part of the Cabinet Sub Committee as it was efforts of Congress ministers who burnt mid night oil and put every force behind to prepare the report and present it in front of cabinet. The National Conference ministers, part of Cabinet Sub Committee, were only enjoying the chopper rides and delicious food at state Guest House and the work was being done by Congress ministers.

| | | | ‘JK needs improvement not extension of administration’ | | Salman ready to work with Omar | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 2: Salman Anees Soz seems dismayed over the creation of new administrative units row. Talking to Early Times, he refused to comment saying everything is there on my face book page. However, he made clear that the posts on the face book were his personal views. "The views have nothing to do with the Congress party or the coalition government," he said.
On January 28, he expressed willingness to work with the Chief Minister (if he so wished) to come up with a proposal to help Jammu Kashmir governance become effective for years to come.
" Let 2014 not dictate our future course. We can do a lot better for people of J&K. After some very difficult years, J&K deser...
| | | | Tainted official rewarded with 'super time scale', lucrative posting | | Queer ways of Omar Govt | | | Avinash Azad
Jammu, Feb 2: On the hind side of Chief Minister's war cries against corruption, Omar Government is practicing exactly the opposite as tainted officers are being promoted at various levels and granted lucrative postings while those with honest credentials are being ignored and marginalized.
Astonishingly, after Special Judge Anti Corruption sought status report over multi-crore scam at Relief Organizations during Vinod Koul's tenure as Relief Commissioner Migrants, the state cabinet which met under the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah accorded super time scale to the tainted IAS officer.
The copy of communication available with ET reveals that on January 31, 2014, following an a...
| | | | Rahul Gandhi doesn't know of Congress hand in Sikh riots but wants support of every hand | | | | early times report
Jammu, Feb 2: Congress vice-president and prospective prime ministerial candidate of the party Rahul Gandhi is in a rather 'failed' attempt is trying to project Congress and himself as the sole guardian for the inclusive growth and integrity of the country.
In a fresh PR campaign, after a disastrous copy cat campaign which was replica of the BJP campaign tag, Rahul's spin doctors are projecting him as the person who can and will take every one along in the development and growth of the country.
The campaign , though without naming, is targeting Narendra Modi, by telling that a single person can't alone do miracles for the country . It also tells that the aim of the Co...
| | | | BJP's resolution on reservation of 3 seats for Hindus of Kashmir | | Has party deviated from its earlier political stand ......? | | | early times report
Jammu, Feb 2: In what can be seen as mere gimmick to have the community by its side and consolidate on whatever political potential the latter has, state unit of BJP has come up a demand of keeping three seats reserved for internally displaced Hindus of Kashmir in the state Assembly, ostensibly from the kitty of 46 in Valley. The demand is both impractical and untenable, unpalatable to even those for whom it has been made. The moot question remains has BJP rake up this reservation demand as poll gimmick to garner sympathies of the entire community for its own benefits or this is simply a lollypop to keep the community divided in the political arena of state when the two...
| | | | Fear of defeat forced NC-Congress keep the coalition intact | | Modi-Mufti Effect | | | Neha
JAMMU, Feb 2: This reporter repeatedly wrote in these columns during the past few days that the NC was only using pressure tactics to force
the Congress to fall in line on the issue of new administrative units and that neither the NC nor the Congress would go out of the government to face the electorate separately, as both the coalition partners are mortally afraid of the popularity of BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Jammu province and Cold-Desert Ladakh and the power of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti in the Kashmir Valley.
That the NC and the Congress would not part ways and contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections together was a foregone conclusion and w...
| | | | NC-Cong Govt ignores suggestion on new districts | | Jammu again ignored | | | Rustam
JAMMU, Feb 2: It was hoped that Jammu & Kashmir Cabinet would endorse the suggestion of the Cabinet Sub-Committee (CSC) on new
administrative units regarding the creation of five new districts in Jammu province and fulfill the long-pending demand of the people to bring administration to their doorstep. The hope had stemmed from the fact that the successive Valley-centric and Kashmiri-dominated governments in the state, including the one headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad of the Congress, had never treated Jammu province fairly, as also from the fact that the Congress-led coalition government in 2007 had perpetrated gross injustice on Jammu province by implementing the 1983 Wazir Commission...
| | | | NC up for embarrassment in Mendhar | | Party MLC could join opposition PDP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb2: The ruling National Conference is likely to face worse political embarrassment in Peer Panjal region in the coming days as some big shots of the party are ready to join the opposition People’s Democratic Party, however, the move may equally destabilize the main opposition also because its cadres could resent such a jump over the fence. If reliable sources are to be believed senior NC leader from the region and sitting legislator holding a constitutional position is all set to join opposition PDP. Sources said Javed Rana of National Conference may soon join PDP but the PDP cadres would revolt the decision which would be equally embarrassing for that party too...
| | | | Guarding JK's white elephants! | | At what cost? | | | early times report
jammu, Feb 2: During the past two decades there has been an alarming increase in the number of VIPs. Non-entities contest elections to do democracy a favour in this neglected land. They lose their deposits but get a police vehicle and security guards as well. This is enough to make him feel like a VIP.
While the Security Wing Jammu is providing 360 vehicles including Bullet Proof Cars, Plain Cars and Maruti Gypsies to the 236 protected persons, its counterpart in Kashmir is pressing into service as many as 605 security vehicles to 383 individuals.
"The number of protected persons other than the Governor, Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs, MLCs and senior police and gov...
