Cong waiting for MCC implementation to announce candidates | | |

Jammu, Mar 14: Amid reports that the chairman of the Dogra Swabhiman Sangthan Party chairman Choudhary Lal Singh is going to join the party, the Congress high command is likely to release the list of party candidates for three Lok Sabha seats of J&K and Ladakh after March 17.
Highly placed sources said that a meeting of the Congress Election Committee (CEC) will be held on March 17 to finalize candidates of some states including J&K and Ladakh.
“Party is waiting for the implementation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the Lok Sabha elections”, sources said and added that Choudhary Lal Singh is likely to join the Congress only after the implementation of MCC.
“Although discussions with Choudhary Lal Singh are going on, no final date has been fixed for his joining the Congress Party”, sources said and added that instead of involving local leaders in the discussion, the party has deputed some central leaders to hold talks with the Choudhary Lal Singh.

JAMMU, Mar 14: The strategic Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed for traffic on Thursday due to landslides at different places in the Ramban district.
“Fresh landslides have hit the highway at Dalwas, Cafeteria Morh and some other places. Clearance operation is going on. The highway is closed for traffic and travellers are advised to contact our control rooms in Jammu and Srinagar before undertaking the journey”, officials said.

Government on Thursday said it has taken action to block 18 OTT platforms and social media accounts associated with them for publishing obscene, vulgar and in some instances pornographic content.
In a statement, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said 18 OTT platforms and 19 websites, 10 apps (seven on Google Play Store, three on Apple App Store), and 57 social media accounts associated with them have been disabled for public access in India.
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur has emphasised the responsibility of the platforms to not propagate obscenity, vulgarity and abuse under the guise of ‘creative expression’.

Srinagar, Mar 14: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday produced a charge sheet in the killing of a cop in Srinagar in 2022.
The chargesheet was produced against two militants, one of them dead in the Court of NIA Srinagar.
On May 7, 2022 Constable Ghulam Hassan Dar, working as a driver, was on way to his office when militants fired upon him near Aiwa Bridge along the Ali Jan road in Srinagar. Dar later succumbed to his injuries.
The case was investigated by SIU and they filed the chargsheet against the two accused militants Adil Ahmad Parray of Badragund Ganderbal and Basit Ahmad Dar of Redwani Payeen Qaimoh Kulgam.
