Follow 'coalition dharma': Soz tells party leaders
5/1/2010 11:26:13 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 1: On expected lines, J&K PCC chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz did his job well in time, both at the internal level as well as publicly ,giving a loud and clear message that 'all is well' with NC-Congress coalition government in the state. If Soz has publicly dismissed any 'differences' between the allies and whatsoever that surfaced in the cabinet meeting as vital for strengthening democratic system, the veteran party president has given instructions to the ministers that no such thing should happen which can become a cause of 'friction' between the coalition. The bottom line and undercurrent message he gave at both the fronts today is too clear to understand and analyze . He made it clear that coalition has to work and work unitedly, come what may and it will last its full term. While agreeing to the queries of media at a function today, the J&K Pradesh Congress chief sought to dispel any misconceptions or apprehensions of differences between NC and Congress over any issue. "These are not serious issues…..these are not differences but certain ar...

5/1/2010 11:26:00 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 1: The BJP, the political organ of the RSS, ditched the people of Jammu and outraged their sensitivities in 1998, when it opposed on the floor of the Assembly the official bill that sought the establishment of Mata Vaishno Devi Technical University at Katra and Agriculture University at RS Pura. The BJP opposed the historical bill overlooking the fact that the people of Jammu had fought relentlessly for the establishment of these two universities for over 65 days and had also observed a 17-day-long continuous bandh. The government of Farooq Abdullah introduced the bill to restore law and order situation in Jammu and to save his office. The BJP again exhibit...

Regionalism within Cabinet: It is better to divide Jammu and Kashmir
5/1/2010 11:25:39 PM
STARK REALITY RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 1: What happened during the April 29 Cabinet meeting in Jammu clearly suggested that the Council of Ministers headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is a divided lot and that the Cabinet Ministers are vertically divided into two groups. One group behaves as if its duty is not only to look after Kashmir and promote its interests but also to establish its hegemony over the administrative apparatus in Jammu or appoint persons of its choice in Jammu province. The other group, which has its permanent interests in Jammu and which does not want the Kashmir-based Cabinet Ministers to establish their stranglehold over the administrative machinery...

Mishu Gupta5/1/2010 11:22:29 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 1: The traditional art of earthen pot-making is on the wane as the young generation is not inclined towards it as it is no more a profit making venture. With the invention of refrigerators and water coolers, people prefer electrical gadgets instead of purchasing earthen pots, besides considering that it would affect their health. Even though doctors have been suggesting people to go in for drinking water kept in earthen pots for its medicinal value during the summer season, people don't take the advice seriously. One of the potters, while talking to our correspondent said, "till eighties, earthen pots were considered as one of the basic items in almost e...
