Jammu, July 9: The invitation cards are reported to have been printed late this evening for the long awaited ceremony. Since middle of January this year, it is almost 150th time that ‘rumours’ of expansion of Omar Abdullah cabinet are again in the town and ‘possibilities’ are more clear on the horizon than ever. The most recent speculations are fueled by Chief Minister’s meeting with the Governor in Srinagar Thursday. That the meeting took place on the day Chief Minister returned from New Delhi after meeting top Congress leaders, the speculations this time carry more weight. If all goes well, the expansion of six-month old National Conference-Congress coalition ministry is expected on Saturday at 4 PM at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Center, sources in the government and at the Raj Bhawan have quite reluctantly confirmed this. | Over 320 arrested for rioting across Valley | | | | Srinagar, July 9: Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested over 320 people in the valley for allegedly indulging in rioting, including seven people charged under the Public Safety Act.
The state police had chalked out a list of anti-social elements, who had been disturbing peace in various districts of the valley, before carrying out raids on Wednesday night that lasted till early this morning.
According to sources, people have been picked up from Kulgam, Anantnag and Baramulla districts of the state and have been slapped with minor charges of disturbing peace to serious offences like section 307 (attempt of murder).

Srinagar: Observing that laws of preventive detention cannot introduce procedural measures of a punitive kind, Jammu and Kashmir High Court Thursday asked government to shift Asiya Andrabi—chairperson Dukhtaran-e-Millat—from Jammu jail to Srinagar within 48hrs.
Justice Hakeen Imtiyaz Hussein directed the government to consider the lodgment of the detenue at a place in terms of the law laid down by the Apex Court in case AK Roy Vs Union of India and others (AIR 1982 SC 710).
The ruling states, “The respondents are duly bound to faithfully honour the law laid down by the Supreme Court which is binding on all under article 141 of the constitution.”

Srinagar, July 9: Life in this Jammu and Kashmir summer capital ground to a halt Thursday with public transport off the roads, and banks, shops as well as educational institutions closed following tension the day before when the death of a youth triggered widespread violence.
Stray incidents of violence continued with stone pelting protesters clashing with police in the old city area as authorities imposed strict restrictions in uptown Maisuma, where trouble had erupted and then spread after the body of Asrar Ahmad Dar was recovered in Rainawari locality.
Dar, who belonged to Maisuma, had left his home on his motorcycle last week and had since remained untraced.

New Delhi, July 09: Inflation continued its downward spiral for the fourth consecutive week with the latest figures released on Thursday putting it at -1.55% for the week ended 27th June.
The official Wholesale Price Index for 'All Commodities' for the week ended 27th June 2009 rose by 0.04 percent to 234.7 (Provisional) from 234.6 (Provisional) for the previous week. Infaltion was – 1.30% in the previous week.
The decline, however, came despite a rise in food prices. During the week, fish-marine, arhar and fruits, vegetables, urad and moong prices rose. However, the prices of eggs (10%), tea (3%), bajra (2%) and maize and masur (1% each) declined.

Baltal, July 9: One Amarnathji Yatri died and five others were injured when a Holy Cave bound helicopter lost height, due to technical snag, and fell down between Sangam and the Lower Camp in the periphery of the Holy Cave, early this morning.
Giving details of the mishap, the Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) said that the Yatri, Mrs. Kalavati, wife of Kali Ram, resident of Baitul district in Madhya Pradesh, who was walking on the track at the time of the accident, was hit by the roter and succumbed to her injuries.
