SRINAGAR, Jul 26: Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti, today complained that most of the private members resolutions submitted by her party’s MLAs had not been admitted for discussion in the forthcoming session of Legislative Assembly beginning on Monday. She also threatened to take all of these resolutions---allegedly blocked by the ruling coalition---for a public debate in the “peoples’ court”.
While addressing a news conference at her Gupkar Road residence, Mehbooba Mufti said that the members of her party had submitted significant resolutions for discussion in the forthcoming session of Legislative Assembly. However, most of these private members’ resolutions, according to her, had not been admitted for the discussion.

Jammu, July 26- The 48 hour ultimatum to Government given by the Central University Joint Action Committee (CUJAC) on the establishment of the Central University in Jammu has been fully endorsed by several organizations including the ruling Congress party.
Addressing media persons here today the Organizing Secretary CUJAC Ajay Tharoor while serving the 48 hour ultimatum to the state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has rejected the Chief Minister assertion of establishing two separate campus one each at Srinagar and Jammu. In case the government fails to clear its stand within next two days, the JAC would be forced to take extreme steps besides giving bandh call.

Vishakapatnam: India on Sunday reached a milestone when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur launched the country's first indigenous nuclear-powered submarine 'INS Arihant' for sea trials.
Kaur broke a coconut and performed a puja after which she unveiled a plaque naming the 112-metre-long submarine. "I name it INS Arihant. All the best to the submarine," she said.

Alert troops foiled an infiltration bid when they gunned down a heavily armed militant near the Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said today.
They said troops guarding the LoC noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) at Tankapora. However, when challenged and asked to surrender, militants opened fire, they informed, adding troops also retaliated and in the fierce clash one militant was killed.
One AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 18 rounds of ammunition, two hand grenades and one damaged wireless set were recovered from the slain militant.

Drass (J&K): An IAF helicopter flying over Doda in Jammu and Kashmir was hit by a bullet following which high security arrangements have been made, a top Air Force official said Sunday.
"High security and precautions are being taken while flying in J&K," Air Officer Commanding in Chief (AOC-In-C) Air Marshal J Chouhan said today.
Referring to the incident, Air Marshal Chouhan, however, said that it has not been re-established that it was shot (by militants).
"The hole which appeared on the tail was that of a bullet. It was flying over Doda," Air Marshal Chouhan said after laying wreaths on the Kargil war memorial here today.
