In a deeply polarized situation entire Jammu region today burst into anger as protests and demonstrations further escalated making it tough for the authorities to contain the prevailing state of affairs.
After imposing prohibitory on Tuesday authorities had expected some semblance of order to return on Wednesday but the agitated protesters openly and vehemently defied the curfew restrictions with impunity and continued with violent protests and demonstrations. The curfew which was earlier imposed under the jurisdiction of six Police Stations in City and southern outskirts had to be extended to entire winter capital city.

Entire Jammu city and many of its peripheral areas plunged into a perpetual darkness late tonight sending the local residents in a state of panic.
Barring at some sensitive locations like Railway Station and army camps, the power supply went off by around 10:15 tonight from entire city including the VIP areas. People made frantic calls to the power stations to confirm the causes but every body appeared confused at what had happened.

Sangarsh Samiti, the newly formed conglomeration of 28 political and social organisations in Jammu, said the present agitation will continue till the order revoking land allotment to the SASB is withdrawn.
"The government had come under pressure of secessionist and fundamentalist elements in revoking the order of land allotment to the Amarnath shrine board, thus hurting the sentiments of the Hindus of the country," its convenor Leela Karan Sharma told reporters.
"Our movement is peaceful and we will not allow Hindu-Muslim conflict during the agitation, he said and asked the Muslims of Jammu to support them.
