CUAS says act fast as Govt ‘ignores’ Jammu shutdown

Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 11: As the Government chose not to react on Monday’s shutdown in the Jammu on the issue of establishment of Central University, the conglomerate of various City based organisations spearheading the movement today asked the ruling dispensation to act fast on the issue. Talking to media persons here today, Sunil Sethi, member of Central University Andolan Samiti and president Bar Association Jammu condemned the government silence and alleged that it intentionally tried to shift Central University to Kashmir. “In Kashmir when same issue is raised by some people, Government has been acting immediately and settle the things but there in Jammu students are on roads from last more than 15 days, the government is showing no serious concern to settle the things”, he mentioned and questioning ‘whether they are waiting for more chaos and destruction here in Jammu or they were waiting for voices to be raised for Central University from Kashmir’. Early Times report Jammu, Aug 11: The City of Temples and its peripheral areas are these days faced with a different kind of ‘famine’ –while the milk products, significant among them cheese, has almost completely disappeared from the vends, the town is reeling under acute shortage of milk. It sounds ludicrous but the fact is that people are picking up even petty fights to have their piece of cheese. The problem is akin to the one prevailed few years back when onion shortage hit most of the country. Hajj begins Oct 20

New Delhi, Aug 11 : This year, 1.15 lakh pilgrims will proceed for Hajj through the Hajj Committee of India, of which 1.04 lakh will travel under normal quota, and the first flight will leave on October 20, Acting Chairman of the Haj Committee said today. Acting Chairman Hasan Ahmed told mediapersons here that around 42,000 pilgrims will proceed on Haj pilgrimage through Saudi Arabian Airlines and 75,000 pilgrims will travel through Air India from 17 embarkation points. Till date, around 95,000 accommodation units in various categories had been hired for the Haj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. However, more hiring was still under process, Mr Ahmed said. ...

Lawyer beats cop in court premises

Early Times Report Jammu,August 11 A cop was beaten by a lawyer in the court premises when the former went with the SHO Janipur to produce challan of accused. The reason behind the incident is stated to be old enmity erupted between them during two months long agitation. Police have registered a case under section 341,323 and 353 RPC against the lawyer. Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 11 : History of Jammu and Kashmir is being incorporated in Social Science (SS) subject at school level in the state, while there is no proposal with the government to introduce moral and ethical education as compulsory subject in schools, official sources said here today.
