SRINAGAR, Sep 16: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has constituted a special team to investigate hitherto blind case of alleged rape and murder of two young women in Shopian. Headed by an officer of the rank of DIG, 23-member CBI team would be arriving in the summer capital on Thursday to start the challenging task of investigating circumstances that led to alleged rape and murder of 25-year-old Neelofar Jan and 17-year-old Asiya Jan during the night intervening May 29th and May 30th this year.
CBI’s responsibility would include identification of the people involved in alleged rape-cum-murder besides those who had fudged the vaginal swab slides of the two victims inspite of continued monitoring of the process of investigation by a Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir High Court, comprising Chief Justice Barin Ghosh and Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir. Jammu, Sept 16: While Jammu Police has been constantly sweating out chasing the thieves on prowl snatching chains, purses and cellphones on the streets in broad day light, today it was its own turn. Four vehicle borne youth snatched service weapon from a cop on duty after beating him up and then made their escape good.
The Police, having solved dozens of robbery, theft, vehicle lifting and snatching cases in recent weeks, were yet to make any headway in finding out who the youth were, leave aside arresting them. New Delhi, Sept 16: The Finance Minister has strongly pleaded that food grains should be kept in the exempted list of goods in the proposed GST scheduled to be implemented from 1st April 2010.
He said that in the event of food grains being taxed there will be a steep rise in prices and the common man will be badly hit. Rather was speaking in the meeting of the Empowered Committee of Finance Ministers here today.

Jammu: Six Indian Army men, one among them critically were injured in a blast near LoC. The incident occurred at Balakote area in Mendhar sector of Poonch district on Wednesday.
Sources told that an explosive device went off today early morning when the troopers of 11 Kumoun Regiment were cutting bushes around their post Balakote of the Mendhar sector.
