After Sofi Yousuf more BJP rebels likely to face action

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 16: Five days passed but senior BJP leader and former MLC Sofi Yousuf has yet not replied to the show cause notice served to him by the Disciplinary Committee of the party. Highly placed sources said that after Sofi Yousuf BJP leadership is likely to take against some more leaders who had raised a banner of revolt. "Notwithstanding efforts of some leaders to protect the rebels, party leadership has taken very serious note of August 11 development when many senior leaders of the party had indirectly threatened the leadership by threatening mass resignations", sources said and added that as a first step the party has served notice to Sofi Yousuf to give a message to rebels. "BJP leadership is very much aware that Sofi Yousuf will give reply only after discussing all aspects with all rebels", sources said and that some senior leaders, who have raised a banner of revolt are not ready to allow new entrants to occupy important positions in the party. Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 16: Three militants were killed as security forces foiled an infiltration bid in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, the Army said. A senior security officer claimed that the Pakistani Army interfered in the counter infiltration operation that took place close to the Line of Control (LoC) at Hathlanga Uri and provided fire support to one of the injured militants. "Pakistani Army post provided fire support to exfiltrate an injured terrorist and they fired at us. Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 16: Northern Army commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday reviewed the operational situation near the site of a gunfight that has been going on for four days in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 16: A court has declared 13 Pakistan-based terrorists as proclaimed offenders in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, paving the way for attachment of their properties if they fail to appear before it within 30 days, officials said on Saturday. The proclamation notice under section 82 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was served to the families of the terrorists in different parts of Kishtwar by the special investigation units (SIUs) of the local police amid beating of drums, they added. Kashmir: Jhelum water level drops to 70-year low

Early Times Report Srinagar, Sep 16: The ongoing dry spell in Kashmir has brought down the water level in Jhelum to 70-year low in the month of September, officials said on Saturday. Kashmir witnessing dry weather for more than a month has complicated the problems of water scarcity and irrigation for the farmers. As per the data shared by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, the water level at Sangam has dropped to 0.09 feet. Officials said that it was the lowest water level recorded in the water body in the last 70 years in the month of September.
