NPSU demands local VC for SKAUST (J) 2/17/2014 11:00:51 PM Jammu, Feb 17: Raising question over the recommendations made by the search committee for appointment of Vice Chancellor (VC) of Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Jammu (SKUAST-J), activists of National Panthers student Union (NPSU) today staged a demonstration and demand local VC for Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Jammu. Activists of various colleges gathered at opposite Old University, Canal Road and stressed upon the demand of appointment of local Vice Chancellor for SKUAST-J, Nitish Sharma further said that prior to his the VCs appointed were unaware of agro climate due to which farmers of Jammu region paid. "Earlier the VCs which appointed also facing inquiries and in Srinagar most of the heads of all the institutions are local", said Nitish. He further said that the Jammu region is facing discrimination from the Independence and now this will not be tolerated any more. Speaking on the occasion, Partap Singh Jamwal said that Jammu was being ignored and MLAs belonging to Jammu region were maintaining criminal silence over the issue.
