2/17/2014 11:23:19 PM
Early Times Report

Deblehar (RS PURA), Feb 17: Observing that credible regional parties have to play important role in establishing a new system of justice and equality at national level, patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that coming Lok Sabha elections is a historic opportunity to lay foundation for accountable and transparent system.
"In the whole country this is a strong wave for change as people want to establish a new system wherein every individual would get equal opportunities for growth and development", Mufti said while addressing an impressive public meeting at Deblehar area of Suchetgarh Assembly segment.
The PDP patron, however, expressed satisfaction that process of change has already started as heads of the governments in different parts of the country have started setting example of simplicity. "Foundation for changing the system has already been laid at national level as well as at State level", he said and added that PDP had laid foundation for change in J&K because during its tenure PDP had set an example of good, transparent and accountable governance.
"Regional parties are emerging all over the country, he said. "West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Orrisa, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab are examples where regional parties are dominating political scenes", he said citing examples of winds of change in traditional political system and added that PDP being the most credible and genuine regional force of J&K has to address aspirations and wishes of all regions and sub-regions of the state.
He however added that Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee, who still lives in her own small flat, is an example of simplicity. He said that change is imminent in the State and people of the J&K are looking towards PDP to get them rid from the present inept and corrupt dispensation.
He underlined that PDP had already played a historic role in restoring peoples' faith in the democratic institutions in the State. He especially mentioned that 2002 assembly elections were turning pointing in the history of the State when people of Jammu and Kashmir had realized that they can change government through their votes.
"It is my desire to establish a system where every sections of the society would get justice and equal opportunities for development and economic growth", he said and added that the agenda of the PDP is formulated by accommodating wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the State.
Mufti, however, regretted that present regime headed by National Conference has crossed all limits because system has been completely collapsed in J&K. "There is no rule of law in J&K", he said and mentioned that a number of ministers have been facing serious allegations but nothing has been done.
Among prominent who spoke on this occasion were T S Bajwa, Baldev Singh Pappa, Ch Chuni Lal, Chatter Saini, Gurmeet Singh Bajwa, Rashpal Singh, Capt Hazara Singh, Kulbir Singh, Balbir Singh, Jagjit Singh Jagga and others.
