India leaves Pak red faced, NSA level talks called off
No Kashmir, no separatists, only terrorism
8/23/2015 12:57:43 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 22: Frustrated by India remaining firm on its resolve to just discuss terrorism during the NSA level talks between Pakistan and India, as expected neighbouring country on late Saturday evening called off the talks citing that conditions put forward by India were unacceptable. Pakistan's decision to cancel the talks came after India hardened its position that the talks would be only on terrorism and Kashmir would not be in the agenda. According to the reports Pakistani establishment was of the opinion that Aziz was not welcome in India after foreign minister Sushma Swaraj's news conference where she set a midnight deadline for Pakistan to decide whether it wants to stick to its demand that Kashmir should be in the agenda for the talks. A political analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Pakistan from day one was not interested in holding talks with India as New Delhi had made it clear that focus of the talks would be on terrorism and no other issues would be discussed." He said that Pakistan knows it very well that India has got enough evidence...

Modi finally asks Sushma to handle Pak
8/23/2015 12:57:27 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 22: The under-severe criticism and roundly-attacked Narendra Modi Government on Friday adopted the virtually marginalized External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's line on talks with rogue Pakistan. It said no to talks with Pakistan National Security advisor (NSA) Sartaj Aziz if Pakistan insisted on talks with Kashmiri separatists before the scheduled meeting between Aziz and Indian NSA Ajit Doval. In fact, it was the Ministry of External affairs (MEA) which took the charge to show belligerent and aggressive Pakistan its rightful place. Its spokesperson Vikas Swarup charged Pakistan with going against the spirit and intent of July 10 Ufa agreement, reached b...

Pak, Kashmiri separatists and India responsible for raising hiccups in bilateral talks
8/23/2015 12:57:18 AM
ET Report JAMMU, Aug 22: Even in the face of repeated pleas for resumption of bilateral talks between Islamabad and New Delhi,Pakistan has not given up its offensive and provocative attitude against India. While Islamabad was getting ready for NSA level talks in New Delhi its Army resorted to repeated ceasefire violations on the LOC and the IB in Jammu and Kashmir. On one hand Pakistan was eager to engage India in the process of dialogue,on the other it insisted on a meeting with Kashmiri separatists before the start of the NSA level talks. Islamabad has developed cold feet over holding bilateral talks with New Delhi because the former had definite reports that India was confrontin...

Are Farooq, Omar on talking terms?
NC, Hurriyat and talks
8/23/2015 12:56:38 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 22: Are president of NC Farooq Abdullah and his son and party's working president Omar Abdullah in talking terms? Do they sit together to discuss issues before they make their views public? Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah are, it appears, not on talking terms. Had they been on talking terms or had they discussed the issues facing the state and the nation as a whole, they would not have spoken differently on the same issue on the same day. The case in point is the contradictory stands the father and son took on the issue of talks between Pakistan National security advisor Sartaj Aziz and Kashmiri separatists like Geelani Mirwaiz, Malik and Shah. Farooq Abdu...

At a time when that wave is waning and resentment growing fast, the leadership is claiming to sweep the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council elections which the region is gearing up for now, oblivious of the fact that it could not bag even a single seat out of four during Assembly elections when the Modi wave was at its zenith. 8/23/2015 12:55:32 AM
Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 22: The demand of granting martyr status to Chamel Singh and suitable compensation to his family, was seemingly a poll plank of BJP to attain power. It has now forgotten him because the "mission" has been accomplished. Pertinent to mention here that Chamel was beaten and then murdered in Kot-Lakhpath jail of Lahore in January 2013 under the circumstances in which Punjab's Sarabjit Singh was murdered by the Pak jail authorities. The body was kept for two months in Pakistan. Vital organs were found removed before the body after it was handed over to the family for last rites. While in opposition, BJP legislators and leaders from the state and the ...

'Govt promoting transfer industry as priority sector'
8/23/2015 12:04:52 AM
Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 22: The scores of transfers and postings affected in the state administration on Friday establish that the PDP-BJP government has been ordering transfers and postings without a proper homework. It is clear that the state cabinet partially or fully modifies its previous orders on transfers and postings. For example, not a single officer transferred earlier in March, April or May has been allowed to continue beyond two or three months at one position. This is confusing, and the working of the departments has received a huge setback by this exercise of frequent transfers and postings. "Today you think A is not competent and replace him by B. Tomorrow you r...
