Jammu, Jan 22: After five weeks of protests and demonstrations an agreement has reached between the student bodies and University of Jammu on open choice in upcoming examination. As per the agreement arrived at after series of discussions, the students have been able to bag some 20 per cent concession in the syllabus.
Sources said that the University authorities had to move promptly after intervention of the Chief Minister’s office on the issue. It is learnt that the Chief Minister was concerned by the sustained protests by students and told the University authorities to resolve matter amicably.

Srinagar, Jan 22 : Jammu and Kashmir police today claimed to have busted a fake currency racket with the arrest of nine persons in Baramulla district of North Kashmir.
The racket came to light when police, on a tip-off, apprehended one Showkat Ahmad Malik from Katapora village of Tangmarg and recovered counterfeit Indian currency notes of 500 denomination to the tune of Rs 4000 from him, the spokesman said.
He said questioning of Malik, a resident of Qazipora village, led to the arrest of eight more persons involved in the racket.
Counterfeit currency notes of Rs 500 denomination to the tune of Rs 47,000 were recovered from them, the spokesman said.
