| Sikh Anger Against Taliban Halts Jammu | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 8: Normal life was paralyzed due to the Jammu bandh called by conglomerate of over 20 organizations including Sikh Representative organizations, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), BJP, BAJ and others as Jammu witnessed a ‘complete bandh’ against the atrocities on Sikhs/Hindus in Northwest region of Pakistan by the Taliban.
Jammu stood against jointly against the ‘Taliban atrocities’ against minorities in Pakistan particularly Sikh and Hindus in NWFP of Pakistan. Pertinent to mention that as many as 150 Sikh families have reportedly moved from Buner, Swat and Aurakzai Agency to Rawalpindi, Lahore and other parts of Pakistan.
About 20 organizations including VHP, Bajrang Dal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), State Akali Dal (SAD), Bar Association Jammu, Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Retailers Association, Petrol Pump Association and others have given a call of Jammu Bandh on May 8 which was supported by many other political and non political parties.

Jammu, May 8: The Jammu and Kashmir government with central support has embarked on the mission of total literacy in the state. And as part of its total literacy campaign (TLC), the government has opened hundreds of new schools under ’Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’ (SSA) to make education accessible to all people in the state.
In fact, the government has moved a step further and opened educational guarantee scheme (EGS) centers in all parts of the state. “Though these schools and centres have resulted in the increase in the enrollments but the desired results are yet to be achieved,” says a senior educationist in Jammu.

Jammu, May 8: In a shocking incident, a group of heavily armed militants late Thursday night raided Bhandara village in remote Gulabgarh area of Reasi district killing three members of the same family including two male and one female member.
According to preliminary police reports, "a group of unidentified militants raided the house of Mohammed Ejaz in village Bhandara and sprayed bullets on family members in which three of them were killed on the spot." The deceased have been identified as Ahmed Din, Ejaz Ahmed and Teja Begum, police reports said.
