SRINAGAR, Jun 6: While claiming that Omar Abdullah-led coalition government had failed at its outset and pushed Jammu & Kashmir back into the dark days of 1996, opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today launched a state-wide agitation to press its demand of revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and withdrawal of troops.
Having secured necessary permission from respective District Magistrates, PDP today staged demonstrations all over the state to press its demand of withdrawal of troops and revocation of AFSPA. It also called for registration of a case of rape-cum-murder, held security forces responsible and demanded punishment to the guilty personnel.
Here in the capital city, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti triggered off her party’s agitation at Sher-e-Kashmir Park, in front of the party headquarters, and asserted that her “movement” would continue until both the demands were conceded by the government. SRINAGAR, Jun 6: Pushing the weeklong mass agitation over the alleged rape-cum-murder of two young women in Shopian into a full-fledged strike for withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Kashmir valley, separatist hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani has declared that there would be no shutdown from Tuesday onwards. He has, however, issued a fresh calendar for weeklong protests, asking male and female students, government employees and lawyers to take to the streets with separate “protest demonstrations” from Monday to Friday next.

Doda, June 06-The poor layout and ill management of roads have made hundred of homes headless and children’s orphans in the mountainous Jammu and Kashmir. Alone in erstwhile Doda district hundreds of persons lost their life in tragic accidents during the last six- seven months and most of these accidents occurred because of poor road conditions and over-loading.

Jammu, Jun 6- At least eight persons, including two soldiers, were killed while 15 others were injured in three separate road accidents across Jammu today.
Three persons were killed and six others seriously injured when a truck and fire services bus collided with each other at Nagrota this morning.
According to the sources the incident occurred when a truck PB08AR-5323 collided with a bus coming from opposition direction resulting death of three persons on the spot and injuries to six others.
