Jammu, June 7: With a seat in Legislative Council (LC) falling vacant on April 1 last, a rat race has begun within a section of leaders in the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) with these leaders vying to become a member of Upper House.
Sources within Congress said that several aspirants are indulging in hectic lobbying for the single Legislative Council seat, which fell vacant after the retirement of Congress leader Subhash Gupta. SRINAGAR, June 7: At least six persons, including two civilians were injured today after a police party was attacked by suspected militants in South Kashmir's Shopian district. According to reports at around 2.30 pm, one police team of District Police Lines Shopian was on a routine check to Bongam Chowk of main town Shopian when suspected militants opened fire at them resulting in injuries to four police personnel and two civilians.
