A day after the Governor and Chief Minister almost declared resolution of the crisis emerging out the transfer of forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, the problem today further escalated and spread across Jammu region with violent protests and demonstrations.
After successful shut down of the day, the parties opposed to the decision of the Governor on surrender of Shrine Board land have extended the call for another 72 hours. If no political development takes place to resolve the issue, Jammu City and many other parts of the region are likely to remain tense for next three days.

Amidst sky touching flames of communal fire engulfing Jammu and Kashmir, the Governor NN Vohra has asked the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to prove the numerical strength constitutionally necessary for survival of his government by or before July 7.
Early this morning, a confident Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had written to the Governor that he is ready to prove strength whenever the latter decides. He had claimed that he continues to enjoy the majority and can prove it any time.

To mount a psychological pressure on the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad ahead of his crucial trust vote, the Peoples Democratic Party, National Conference and the Panthers Party today clarified their position before media that none of the members from their parties was ready to support the government.
Leave aside extending support to the government Panthers Party leader Bhim Singh, at a press conference here today, called for sacking of the government on the land transfer issue. He said that the government has lost trust of the people of both communities and should be sacked forthwith to impose the Governor's rule.

With Governor NN Vohra setting the July 7 as deadline for the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to prove his majority on floor of the House, hectic activity has got in motion to arrange the requisite numbers.
In view of National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party categorically refusing to support the government, the Chief Minister's claim of having required numbers has left the observers guessing.
