| Privilege motion against Baig | | NC supporters attack Ansari’s business center, Baig’s house in Valley-wide angry protests | | | AHMED ALI FAYYAZ
SRINAGAR, Jul 29: Even as Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone today admitted 12 of the ruling coalition members’ motion on breach of privilege against the opposition PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig amid hours of mayhem in the Legislative Assembly and the PDP MLAs tore off documents, National Conference (NC) supporters staged strong protests against the former Deputy Chief Minister and attacked his houses, both in Srinagar and Baramulla. On Tuesday, Baig had forced the Chief Minister to resign after he claimed that Mr Omar Abdullah’s name had figured among nearly 200 influential persons allegedly involved in the infamous Srinagar Sex Scandal of year 2006.
Obviously emboldened by CBI’s clean chit to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, NC today launched a multi-pronged counter-offensive on the opposition party and selected two of the senior leaders of PDP---Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Maulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari---as its first target. Reports said that infuriated NC supporters staged protest demonstrations against Baig and Mehbooba Mufti at nearly 20 places in the capital city ...

“As the tracks were slippery we decided to suspend the Yatra from both the tracks,” a senior official associated with the Yatra said. He said that later in the afternoon devotees were allowed to proceed towards the cave from Baltal. Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 502 pilgrims, including 92 wo...

| | | | Healthy rivalry, animosity are two different things | | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 29: The bitter acrimony between the ruling National Conference (NC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has virtually paralysed the state. Over the past couple of days, the focus has entirely been upon actions taken by the bigwigs of these two parties and nothing else.
On Wednesday, the Speaker, Mohammad Akbar Lone, had to direct the government to take all necessary measures to protect life and property of PDP MLAs, Mr. Iftikhar Hussain Ansari and Muzaffar Hussein Beig.
The direction was issued after Mehbooba Mufti voiced concern about reports of ransacking of the property of the two MLAs by miscreants. These miscreants were apparently the ...

| | | | Who are Shabir and Reyaz? | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 29: Whenever a controversy breaks out bringing National Conference Congress government at loggerheads with public, Hurriyat or the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, a mysterious ‘Public Relations’ mechanism suddenly comes into fore with quite juicy information hard for any editor to blackout but the person at the other end is always “invisible” and “unidentifiable”.
When television screens on Wednesday beamed the scenes from Legislative Assembly showing Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone forwarding a questionnaire to former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig, which the latter tore apart, the journalist fraternity started keenly looking forward to an em...
