Jammu | Aug 11
As the flames of fire emanating out of Jammu’s assertion agitation reached Srinagar, the Kashmir Valley today erupted into a deep trouble with four persons, including a prominent leader of the Hurriyat Conference being killed in Police fire after thousands of people including traders and fruit merchants led a march to Line of Control in a bid to cross over to the Muzaffarabad capital of Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
The campaign launched by both factions of Hurriyat Conference and supported, among others, by the Peoples Democratic Party, was based on the allegations that the agitation in Jammu has blocked economic supplies to the Valley. This charge has been vehemently denied by the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti and also by the government which claimed that there was a smooth movement of trucks all along the National Highway from Lakhanpur to Srinagar.
Even though unconfirmed reports said that 50,000 to 100,000 lakh people marched towards the Line of Control and ten people were killed in the retaliatory fire but the government rubbis...

Jammu | Aug 11
On the day when Kashmiri separatists led march to Muzaffarabad seeking to trust the people and government on other side of divide, the Pakistani forces yet again resorted to unproved firing on the Line of Control in Poonch sector. Coming as one of the several breaches of ceasefire in past few weeks, the Defence authorities are of opinion that the Pakistani forces may have facilitated entry of militants under the cover of fire.
Reports said that Pakistan Army troops on Monday lobbed mortars and targeted small arms fire at an Indian post in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, breaching a November 2003 ceasefire agreement between the two countries for...

Jammu | Aug 11
Is it necessary for the separatists and the PDP to carry out Muzaffarabad "chalo" rally when over 1200 trucks, carrying several consumer items reached Srinagar during the last five days? Is such a march warranted when several hundred trucks, loaded with fresh fruit, left Srinagar during the same period ?The Government had made arrangements for a fleet of 700 trucks for carrying fruit out of the valley but there was fruit which could be loaded only in 200 trucks.Certainly such a march is not called for when those, who have given the call for the march ,know it fully well that they may not be able to reach even the zero line in the Uri sector. After the Union Home Mi...
