Revolt brewing in Cong ranks over New Delhi's continued experimentation in J&K | Rotational Chief Minister issue still alive Parray resigns, many others to follow | | Syed Junaid Hashmi
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 14: Congress leaders and workers across Jammu and Kashmir have begun feeling suffocated and some have even left the party owing to New Delhi's apparent refusal to accept their demand for rotational Chief Minister.
Sources said that a revolt is brewing in the ranks of congress and by December 2011, political scenario of state is likely to witness a major turnaround. If congress leadership at the centre does not heed to demand of local workers, sources said that New Delhi may be forced to constitute another team of interlocutors for its own party unit in J&K.
They said that despite factionalism, congress workers are convinced that internal friction would not be a problem if New Delhi accepts their demand. If congress does not get its own Chief Minister for the next three years, its base is likely to get eroded across Jammu region where it has significant presence, said the sources. They were critical of congress leadership's continued experimental approach in Jammu and Kashmir.

Govt clarification contradicting RTI reply | Justification unfair in view of J&K's fiscal health | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 14 : Even if, as the Government claims, the chopper sorties, during the last three years, were carried out for carrying not only the Chief Minister but other ministers, senior bureaucrats to various areas in connection with their official work the expenses of over Rs.11 crores on fuel, establishment and maintenance charges is quite high in the context of the fiscal health of Jammu and Kashmir. The clarification issued by the Government while justifying expenses on the chopper services seem to be untenable because it has claimed that the chopper sorties were carried out during natural calamities, including earthquakes. Fortunately after 2005 the state was not r...

| | Tussle in BJP is between confrontation and those favouring reconciliation | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 14 : The state unit of the BJP is divided between two sets of opinion, one favoring reconciliation with those seven MLAs who have been suspended on charge of anti-party activities and the second opting for confrontation.
Sources within the party say that those who are for reconciliation argue that since the seven MLAs had pockets of influence in various areas of Jammu region, especially in the constituencies they represent in the state Assembly, their expulsion from the party could lead to further erosion in the BJP.
But those wanting the party high command to opt for confrontation in the interest of the party unity have informed Delhi that those MLAs who ha...

| | Cong, not NC main target of BJP in J&K | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 14 : Is BJP sincere in raising the land grabbing issue in the state? And if is so then Party would have not targeted a Minister of a particular Party in ruling coalition while maintaining a total silence on the role of senior coalition partners in the Government.
According to sources BJP leadership for last some years has made a particular minister target accusing him of grabbing hundreds kanals of land in Tawi area while turning a blind eye to land encroachment by other politicians especially to those belonging to senior coalition partner. Had BJP been sincere in its motive it would have forcefully fought the issue by exposing all who so ever he may be. But ...
