TOP STORY OF THE DAY
To enjoy luxuries, facilities Babus put additional burden on J&K’s exchequer
11/29/2021 11:07:53 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 29: The Jammu and Kashmir government has claimed to ban the 149-year-old tradition of Darbar Move to save 200 crores of its exchequer but still, bureaucrats are putting an additional burden on the government by enjoying luxuries and other facilities. As many as six senior ‘Babus’- who have been shifted to the Union Territory of Ladakh after bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two UTs have not surrendered their palatial bungalows. Shockingly after being shifted to UT of Ladakh, these officers were also provided accommodation by the Ladakh government but still, they have “captured” official bungalows at Jammu. According to sources, the J&K government spent every year huge amount on the renovation of these bungalows from its own coffer despite the fact that these officers are not part of Ladakh UT. In June this year, the 149-year-old tradition in Jammu and Kashmir known as the 'Darbar Move', came to an end. The ‘Darbar Move’ was a biannual practice in which the government functions for six months each in the two capitals of...

11/29/2021 11:07:40 PM
Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 29: Government of India’s dream of ‘Skill India’ has no takers in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir since the people at helm are hell bent on the closure of para-medical institutes and colleges that impart skills to poor students who in turn become job givers rather than job seekers. Sources told Early Times that the para-medical institutes and colleges in Jammu & Kashmir have been denied fresh admission over the past couple of years. The basic reason for the same is that the government wants to put the students go through a test conducted by Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE). “The para-medical courses being impa...
