Jammu, Jan 16: In yet another New Year bonanza from the education department, over 300 teachers engaged under Rehbr-e-Taleem scheme have been approved for their regularization as regular teachers.
Just three days back the Government had approved creation of 3481 posts for 94 Higher Secondary schools and 137 High schools, upgraded during 2005-06 and 2006-07 in the state. Also 200 posts of lecturers for fifth subject in the Higher Secondary are also being filled up.
An official spokesman said that the Minister for School Education & Public Enterprises, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed today approved the regularization of 308 Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers of various districts. Giving approval to the proposal submitted to him to this effect, he s aid that all the Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers after completing 5 years of continuous service would be regularized. Their cases are being examined and processed, he added.

Jammu, Jan 16: Reaching out to the Kashmir Valley with an olive branch, the Omar Abdullah government has ordered release of 15 detenues lodged in different jails under the Public Safety Act.
All detenues whose detention has been revoked belonged to the Kashmir Valley. It could not be immediately learnt whether these detentions were quashed on recommendations of any screening committee.
An official spokesman said today that the Government has ordered revocation of detention of 15 PSA detenues with immediate effect.

Jammu, Jan 16: Top Hizbul militant Waseem Ahmed Malik, accused of masterminding the 1995 Republic Day blast claiming 12 lives, has been arrested from Kishtwar district.
Malik, then a self-styled Hizbul district commander, masterminded the blasts along with some other Pakistani militants led by one commander Ifran, in which 60 others were injured and the then Governor Gen K V Krishna Rao had a narrow escape.
He was arrested in connection with his involvement in the explosions at MAM stadium, Deputy Inspector General, Doda-Ramba-Kishtwar range, Himant Lohia told PTI. He was picked up from Kishtwar town on Thursday night.

Jammu, Jan 16 : The Railways will this year showcase their first train service in Kashmir valley that was flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in October last year, in their tableau during the Republic Day Parade, at Rajpath in New Delhi.
Kashmir valley got its first train service only last year, over 160 years after India's first railway line from Mumbai to Thane was inaugurated.
