| UN snubs Omar | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 24: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had got rebuff from the United Nation for this proposal to lift up the United Nations Military Observers Group from the State. The rebuff was bound to come as the statement from him was less on substance and more on rhetoric.
The statement it appears was made to appease the Central leadership, read Congress, whose assistance, more so pre-poll alliance he needs desperately to stay in power.
The statement by the Chief Minister, at fag end of his office, was made when India had lodged its strong protest with the Pakistan over beheading of the Indian Solider and consistent violation of the ceasefire agreement in place since 2003.
The India had also made it clear that it will allow any UN probe into the incident of the beheading of the Indian solider. The stand was quite logical and in tune with the Indian stand that Kashmir is an integral part of the country and any dispute had to be resolute with Pakistan alone and not with international community and also not with any international organization.

Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 24: Even as the spate of protests and threatening through supporters including Panchs and Sarpanchs stage managed by the politicians dropped from the Ministry or not inducted on Jan 15 have subsided, their simmering discontent and annoyance is far from over. The overtone of the statements and political actions smack of the anger and resentment, no matter they continue to uphold the 'loyalty' tag outwardly with their respective parties. They continue to enjoy all privileges of power , yet the grouse is writ large in their actions. One is prompted to ask why this desperation to cling on to chair of Ministry…..?

Paradoxically, another non callous approach of GMC&H authorities have been taking toll of Rs 60 lakh on state exchequer.
Sources informed Early Times that the ventilator in the said CCA has also turned redundant. "CCA was procured four years back, but due to the non availability staff of paramedics to make operational the ambulance, later it was parked at Chest Disease Hospital in deplorable conditions" they added.
Sources further said that without its use the ventilato...

Jammu, Jan 24: Being conscious that National Conference has never honored its commitments nor has it reached out to the people in need, its coalition partner Congress is now seeking even petty insurance cover for the Panchs and Sarpanchs, living under the shadow of gun in the State, from the Union Government.

Jammu, Jan 24: Despite Chief Minister Omar Abdullah looking after the Power portfolio; high profile, politically well-connected and VVIP defaulters of Power Development Department (PDD) receive bouquets while the official might is exhausted on the commoners.
PDD dues worth more than Rs. 54 crore are pending with various hotels, factories, industrial units and commercial houses. PDD has served a notice to the defaulters on August 17, 2012 asking them to either deposit the default money or else, the power connection would be disconnected. Shockingly, the same which has allowed VVIP defaulters to deposit pending dues within two weeks does not waste a second in disconnectin...

Jammu, Jan 24: Even though Chief Minister and Working President of National Conference, Omar Abdullah installed his two close confidants Devinder Rana and Nasir Aslam Wani as Provincial presidents for Jammu and Kashmir provinces respectively amid much fanfare with Abdullah personally greeting them in their new avatars, the other party nominees are no where in picture as if they were not even registered with Omar in the capacity of party workers.
