JAMMU, FEB 18: In a significant meeting that took place today between the Cabinet Subcommittee, constituted by the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah yesterday, and the agitating employees, certain important decisions regarding implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission were taken. At the instance of the Chief Minister, the Cabinet-Subcommittee met the employees and the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere.
Later, a joint press conference was addressed by the head of the Cabinet Subcommittee, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather in presence of the Members of the Cabinet Sub-Committee including Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-din and Mr. Surjit Singh Slathia, and representatives of Joint Consultative Committee of employees associations during which these important decisions were announced.
From the employees side, those present in the press conference included Mr. Nazir Ahmad Mir, Mr. Khursheed Alam, Mr. Abdul Qayoom, Mr. Pardeep Kumar and Mr. Ram Kumar Sharma.

Jammu, Feb 18: The Joint Consultative Committee, an amalgam of various employees Unions, Wednesday deferred their fresh three-day strike call by a day after four-hour long meeting between a five-member cabinet sub-committee and 31-member team of employees ended "successfully" this afternoon.
"After our successful meeting with cabinet sub-committee, we have decided to postpone the fresh strike call of three more days from tomorrow by a day," Abdul Qayoom Wani, senior member of JCC and president of a faction of Employees Joint Action Committee said.

Jammu, Feb 18: National Conference president and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah along with his senior party colleague Mohammad Shafi today took oath of the Members of Rajya Sabha.
Both were elected to the Upper House of the Indian Parliament on February 13. Union Water Minister Saifuddin Soz and former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who were elected earlier this month to the Rajya Sabha had taken their oath on Monday.
With both former Chief Ministers, Farooq Abdullah and Ghulam Nabi Azad set to resign in next fourteen days, the coalition strength in the assembly house of 89-members will be reduced 44.

New Delhi, Feb 18: India on Wednesday again ruled out any kind of military action against Pakistan in the wake of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
Speaking in Parliament, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said that there was no question of launching any retaliatory strikes against Pakistan even though several political parties have suggested to the government to do the same post 26/11.
The government is opposed to such action even though some countries are exercising the option, the minister stated, apparently referring to Israel’s recent military assault on Gaza.
