Of LAHDC's new logo
3/20/2011 12:01:29 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 19: Everything ranging from politics to environment has been discussed in the on-going session of the Legislative Assembly. However, the legislators especially from the ruling coalition have failed to discuss the use of new logo by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC). The LAHDC has also abandoned use of the state flag. Instead the `civic body' has been using the Tricolor. Usually, anywhere in the state, the Tricolor and the state flag are hurled atop government buildings and vehicles. The combination is also used at official functions. On February 27, the Chief Minister responded to the development by stating that LAHDC was a municipali...

3/20/2011 12:01:00 AM
Early Times Report New Delhi, Mar 19: Notwithstanding the fact they belong to same soil of Kashmir, the two veteran leaders-adversaries on the political front today shared the same dais only to air vertically divided views on Kashmir. It was no less than a one to one confrontation between Union Minister and former Chief Minister of J&K Dr Farooq Abdullah and hardliner separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani who were guests at the India Today conclave held here today. The two leaders spoke Saturday on 'Kashmir, What next?' at the 10th India Today conclave. Autonomy demand triggers animated debate in political circles
3/20/2011 12:00:46 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 19: If the PDP members of the state Assembly defended the reported recommendations of the interlocutors favouring restoration of pre-1953 constitutional status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir they were not supporting the autonomy concept as envisaged by the National Conference. They were defending interlocutors views on experimenting various options for the settlement of the turmoil in Kashmir. Reports says that by def ending interlocutors' reported recommendation he PDP wanted to demonstrate its Kashmir centric bias. Even if its support for the idea was mistaken for a thaw between the two political rivals, the NC and the PDP,such impression was misplaced. ...

3/20/2011 12:00:28 AM
Rustam JAMMU, Mar 19: Bulk of the Arab World is in turmoil. As a matter of fact, a pro-democracy wave is sweeping across the Middle East. Fed up with the dictatorial and oppressive rule in their respective states, the people have engineered movements in several countries. They have already succeeded in Tunisia and Egypt and they are likely to succeed in Libya anytime from now, with the United Nations joining the people's movement there in its own way. Struggle for the introduction of democratic set-up is also going on in Bahrain and Jordan and in the process the pro-democracy forces are suffering at the hands of forces loyal to the dictators. Mirwaiz can't take Jammu and Ladakh for a ride
3/19/2011 11:59:33 PM
Neha JAMMU, Mar 19: It is now more than clear: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, or for that matter other self-styled freedom fighters, who have been surviving and thriving on the blood and sweat of common Kashmiri Muslims and exploiting the name of Islam for the worldly gains since years, will neither reform themselves nor would they deviate from the path that has only brought death and destruction in Kashmir. It is also clear that they will not recognize the complexities and diversities in the state and that they will continue to air views that are uterly unacceptable and that have already caused an extreme form of bitterness between the regions and social groups. How else should one interpret what ...
