Even as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had held him guilty, alongwith five other doctors, of fudging and fabricating evidences in alleged rape-cum-murder incident of two young women in Shopian, state government had promoted Dr Sofi from the position of Deputy CMO to CMO in September last year and continued his posting in Pulwama district.

On a particular date earlier this month, the woman in her early 30s reached his office to do the needful. However, one or two of Dr Sofi's contacts, managed to ...

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 20: The Law Minister, Ali Muhammad Sager Saturday talked about the government's measures to restore supremacy of judiciary. A crude joke indeed. Judiciary was supreme during Maharaja Hari Singh's autocratic rule. It lost its sheen the moment National Conference took over the reins of the state in 1947.
Maharani Tara Devi went out in her chauffer driven car on a pleasant May morning in1944. The driver was booked for a minor traffic offence and accordingly put on trial. The Maharani wrote a note to the presiding officer of the court requesting him to take a lenient view in the case. The magistrate informed Maharaja Hari Singh who tendered an uncondit...

JAMMU, Mar 20: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, is not the first politician to think of the rehabilitation of those youths who had crossed into Pakistan for arms training and were wishing to return to Kashmir without weapons. During the last 20 years of turmoil in Jammu and Kashmir the successive state Governments and the centre had been supporting the ideas on relief and rehabilitation of militants, misguided youths and those who surrendered before the security forces.
Not a bad idea provided the Government is confident and sure that those wh...
