| 100 days…and this is just beginning | | Omar has a vision but alas this is J&K | | |
ZAFAR CHOUDHARY
Jammu, Apr 12: First day in top chamber of civil secretariat, on January 9 when the youngest Chief Minister Omar Abdullah talked about his ‘100-day’ model to set tone for governance in next 69 months, his plain, crisp and sweet talk was highly appreciated by his bureaucrat audience but the 100-day model still remain an illusion as the National Conference-Congress coalition completes three months in office.
Widely respected and read London based Sunday Observer has noted that 39 years old Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister has a vision though he has had only 100 days in office. When Omar Abdullah moved into office of Chief Minister there was very little to doubt about h...
| | | | Congress made its days | | | | early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 12: Congress runs alliance governments in various states but the national party would never have enjoyed anything as it has bargained with the National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir over past 100 days.
It is the story of a younger brother calling shots on the elder because he is taller in height. If the precedence set by the Congress continued for few more years the National Conference may well be seen wanting for the answers on how not rule in alliances.
As the coalition government completes its three months in office, the Congress appears to have walked more than three years on its political consolidation in Jammu and Kashmir and it is still looking hi...

| | | | ‘NO Taliban in J&K’ | | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar | Sunday, Apr 12
Rejecting the media reports about the presence of Taliban militants in Kashmir, former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah sought the help of visiting doctors to present actual picture of the Valley to the world outside.
The presence of Taliban militants in the frontier district of Kupwara was nothing but a 'propaganda' started by some vested elements who wanted to affect the tourism industry in the valley.
''The situation in the Kashmir Valley is absolutely normal and there was no threat of any Taliban as was being projected by some news channels,'' he said at the annual conference of the Northern Chapter of the Association of Radiation Oncol...
| | | | Sonia could become PM: Farooq Abdullah | | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, April 12: NC chief Farooq Abdullah on Sunday claimed that the UPA can only come to power if its various "factions" support the Congress after the polls and said that Sonia Gandhi could become the Prime Minister.
"UPA is divided in factions. Lalu Prasad and Ramvilas Paswan are fighting the elections separately," Abdullah, whose NC is part of the UPA, told reporters here.
Abdullah claimed the UPA will emerge as a strong contender to form the next government provided "factions" of the alliance support Congress after elections.
"If they support Congress after elections, UPA will emerge a strong contender for formation of the next government," he said.
