ANANTNAG, Apr 28: Scion of the Beg family, Dr Mehboob Beg, is not important merely because of being the son of Sheikh Abdullah’s unparalleled confidante Mirza Afzal Beg---key character of Beg-Parthasarthi talks that churned the Indira-Abdullah Accord in 1975. In the middle of last year, he had fired a salvo on then PDP-Congress regime with his allegation that the actual purpose of allotment of 800 Kanal of land at Baltal in favour of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board was building up a Hindu concentration to be known as ‘Amarnath Nagar’. Jammu, April 28: One major trouble the National Conference-Congress coalition government bumped into immediately after assuming office earlier this year is again brewing up hot as the employees are bracing up for a fresh round of agitation on the issue of their scales of pay.
In February this year the government was able to effectively handle the employees’ agitation by ensuring a split between two major associations of employees and taking the KAS officers on its side. However, after unveiling of the revised scales of pay, upon which the strike was called off, the employees appear to have left more annoyed than earlier.

Police sources said that acting on tip-off regarding the presence of militants in Darda, Marmath forests area of Doda district, a police team cordoned the area and started combing operations.

Srinagar, Apr 28- As the number of passengers opting to travel through the rail plying on the 119 Kilometer Anantnag-Baramulla link is increasing with every passing day, the Northern Railway has inducted one more DMU for operation from May one, taking the number of units in service to three on the 119-km newly laid track.
A DMU (Diesel Machine Unit) was taken to the valley on a trawler by the railway engineering wing last Thursday.
The test run of the coaches manufactured at Chennai Integral Coach Factory was carried out successfully. The new coach will start services on May 1. Two DMUs are in operation now, which include five engines and 23 coaches.
