War of words between MPs of alliance partners
5/5/2012 1:20:51 AM
early times report Jammu, May 4: Notwithstanding the claims at the high command level of both the parties in coalition in J&K Government that the allies enjoy smooth ties, a war of words has again erupted , this time involving MPs of NC and Congress , that too over an issue as serious as autonomy as solution for J&K problem. A day after Congress Member Parliament in Lok Sabha from Jammu and Kashmir-Lal Singh- said there should be no autonomy or self rule for the state, the ruling National Conference today minced no words to lambast him. While addressing Party workers at the party headquarters, senior NC leader and Member Parliament Sharief-ud-Din Shariq said his party's document of aut...

Congress to keep its hands off JK till July
5/5/2012 1:20:35 AM
early times report Jammu, May 4: The Congress, it seems, is likely to keep its hands off Kashmir for the time being. No changes are expected in the present dispensation. Former Chief Minister and Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad assured full term for Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in office yesterday. The Congress, political circles believe needs support of the National Conference which has three members in Lok Sabha and two in the Rajya Sabha. In addition, it has 28 members in the Legislative Assembly. And with the Presidential elections round the corner, Congress simply cannot afford to annoy the National Conference. Azad, who supported the idea of giving Omar a full term is alw...

Congress MP did what BJP failed to do
Voice against Autonomy
5/5/2012 1:20:16 AM
RUSTAM JAMMU, May 4: Congress MP Lal Singh, who represents the Udhampur-Doda-Kathua Parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha, deserves kudos. He deserves appreciation because he did a great job in the Lok Sabha with the so-called ultra-nationalist BJP members coming forward to make common cause with the Congress MP. It was after a very long time that a Jammu MP talked sense, defended the national cause in the state and took on those working against national unity and putting forth communally-motivated, ill-designed and divisive suggestions. What exactly did the "emotionally charged" Lal Singh do in the Lok Sabha, the highest law-making body in the country? He attacked the votaries ...

No 'discrimination' in canine trouble : relief for govt……..?
Both capital cities face 'terror' of stray dogs
5/5/2012 1:20:03 AM
early times report Jammu, May 4: In the NC led regime of coalition in J&K at present , the three regions have witnessed discrimination on almost every front . But there has been uniformity and no discrimination at least on one count over which the ruling NC and its ally Congress can take 'pride' in having a similar scenario - the menace of stray dogs which has engulfed both the capital cities, the numbers certainly high in the summer capital where its impact has been felt with severity lately to the extent that people see it no less than a terror on the roads and streets. If the entire Kashmir valley , particularly Srinagar city is in grip of canine trouble, the winter capital Jammu...

Azad absolutely right, no rift between him, NC
Sidelining Soz
5/5/2012 1:19:53 AM
NEHA JAMMU, May 4: Union Health Minister and former J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday only spoke the truth and nothing but truth at Devsar, Kulgam (Kashmir), when he pooh-poohed reports about rift between him, Congress party and the NC, which is leading the State Government. There is no rift between him and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. There should be no doubt it. Had there been any rift between him or the group of Congress dissidents that he leads in the State and Omar Abdullah and his NC, Azad would not have again and again and yet again extended his fullest possible cooperation to the Chief Minister; he would not have asserted day in and day out that Omar Abdullah would ...
