6/26/2014 12:05:45 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, June 25: Mission 44 Plus on mind, as the BJP central leadership is focussing on strategy for Assembly polls, the pro active mode of leaders incharge from New Delhi are giving anxious moments to some sitting MLAs as also to a couple of big wigs at the state level. Reason: a signal has gone from quarters which are decisive in finalizing names for mandate that they may be dropped this time from the final list even as they continue to be front runners to claim the same. In order to avoid repetition culture as also on the basis of winnability factor, the Party is likely to give tickets to some new faces on some constituencies in Jammu region. Sources said notwithstanding the euphoria of unprecendented victory in LS polls, the party leadership is not leaving any chance for forthcoming Assembly polls for any complacency to creep in or tread any step without serious consideration on all fronts. Stalwarts from Central leadership who are leading the poll preparedness themselves from the front are giving serious thought to each and every aspect, particularly on sele...

ERA insensitive to its workforce
6/25/2014 11:35:42 PM
Arun Singh Jammu, June 25: The nonchalant attitude of the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) with regards to its responsibility towards its work force can be gauged from the fact that it did not deduct labour Cess to the tune of Rs 12.99 crores from the bills of contractors disregarding welfare of the labour class, working in various construction projects. Sources told Early Times that Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) had made payment of Rs 1299 crore to the contractors for the construction of 100 sub-projects during the period from 2007-8 to 2012-13. BJP's pre-poll uproar on Art 370 falls silently dead?
6/25/2014 11:32:26 PM
Kunal Shrivatsa JAMMU, June 25: Politics sometimes plays strange games with political parties as their ideologies and populism at times do not get together, the same applies for the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), which is perhaps, going through a similar dilemma where it has 'wittingly' or 'unwittingly' dumped its one of the most sought after issue of Article 370, which has provision of special status for J&K, for one reason or the other. Going by the stoic silence maintained by its Central and State leaders on the 'contentious' issue of Article 370 ever since Union Minister of State (MoS) in Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh after assuming charge on May 27 asserted that proce...

Early Times Report JAMMU, June 25: With Indian Railways set to commission the much-awaited train service to Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi shrine; state Government has left business community of Jammu worried and anxious about their future. The community which anticipates slump in business once the train goes directly to Katra and thereafter, reaches Srinagar in the years to come, has been waiting for the Government to come up with some concrete proposal for saving the city from losing the relevance it has today. The project to beautify Jammu city and convert it into a heritage center has been seemingly long forgotten. What has increased trauma of business community is that ne...

NC in serious trouble
6/25/2014 11:31:42 PM
Rustam JAMMU, June 25: The ruling NC, which suffered the worst ever defeat in the just held Lok Sabha election and secured a paltry 8 to 10 per cent of the total votes polled, is in serious trouble. It has become unpopular and lost people's confidence and there should be no doubt about it. There is also no doubt that it is struggling for survival - a goal that appears not achievable. The reason is that it has no leader who could inspire people. Farooq Abdullah perhaps was the only leader capable of striking chord with his communal constituency, but he was also rejected outrightly by the Kashmiri Muslims. His was an ignominious defeat that established once and for all that he is a spent bul...
