Srinagar, July 14: In a major shakeup ranging from topmost to lowest rung of Police administration, reflecting some fallouts of Shopian fiasco, the government today reshuffled more than 60 officers including Director General of Crime Investigation Department and Inspectors General of both Police Zones.
Dr Ashok Bhan, the Director General of CID has been made DG Prisons, a post lying vacant for quite some time. Inspector General of Jammu Police K Rajendra Kumar has been posted as head of CID, as ADGP in his own pay and grade.
Inspector General of Security Ashok Gupta is new chief of Jammu Police Zone replacing Rajendra. Gupta has apparently given key assignment in view of his excellent record in the security.
P.L Gupta IPS, IGP Headquarter has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Vigilance (ADGP) in his own pay and grade. SRINAGAR, JULY 14: Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah today appointed legislator and senior National Conference leader Mr. Mubarak Gul as his Advisor with the status of Cabinet rank.

''A woman identified as Sakina, 55, wife of Gola, was raped on Saturday by two people when she was grazing cattle in village Dandri of Ramban district,'' police sources told UNI.
The woman however, last evening narrated the incident to the family members, who reported the matter to the police.

Srinagar, July 14: While registering a business turnover of Rs 51,975.56 crore during the quarter ended June, 2009, the J&K Bank recorded an increase of 41 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous year in the operating profit which increased to Rs.256 crore. For the said quarter, the Bank recorded a net profit of Rs 117.05 crore, an increase of 24 % over Rs 94.56 pertaining to the corresponding period of the previous year.

New Delhi: Haj pilgrims from India this year will have to compulsorily get themselves vaccinated against swine flu to avoid getting quarantined in Saudi Arabia, as per the latest requirements of the government there.
This was announced Tuesday by Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor who also advised that elderly, pregnant women and children should avoid making the pilgrimage this year due to the pandemic.

SRINAGAR, JULY 14: In furtherance of the decision taken by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, today approved the relocation of helipad from the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji to Panchtarni, the forward Base Camp on the traditional Pahalgam route.
Shri B. B.
